On the evening of February 11, 2026, the Chamber of Commerce Luxembourg, the China-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Brussels jointly hosted the Chinese New Year Reception. Nearly 400 guests attended, including Chinese Ambassador to Luxembourg Hua Ning, Luxembourg’s Minister of the Economy Delles, President of the Chamber of Commerce Luxembourg Ernster, Deputy Representative of HKETO Fiona Li, Chairman of the China-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce Bortuzzo, and representatives from the business communities of both countries.

In his speech, Ambassador Hua Ning stated that last year, China successfully concluded the 14th Five-Year Plan, with its economic aggregate reaching a historic milestone of over 140 trillion yuan and its foreign trade achieving growth against the trend. Cooperation between China and Luxembourg has yielded fruitful results in areas such as finance, aviation, and cultural tourism, with breakthroughs also made in emerging industries. The year 2026 marks the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan. China and Europe should uphold their partnership, strengthen two-way investment and trade, and jointly build resilient industrial and supply chains. He noted that in recent years, Hong Kong has achieved a crucial transformation from chaos to order and from stability to prosperity, further consolidating its status as an international financial center. The ‘Pearl of the Orient’ is shining brightly once again.
Fiona Li introduced Hong Kong’s role as a global financial and business hub, as well as its function as a bridge connecting the Chinese mainland with international markets. She emphasized that Hong Kong is committed to fostering closer economic and commercial ties with Luxembourg and Europe.
Delles and Ernster expressed that sustained cooperation, innovation-driven growth, and mutually beneficial partnerships are of great significance to both China and Luxembourg. The Luxembourg government and the Chamber of Commerce, as always, will serve as a bridge for business investment and cooperation between the two countries, strengthen economic and trade ties, and create opportunities for collaboration. Bortuzzo encouraged people to visit China and deepen mutual understanding, noting that learning about China’s history and experiencing exchanges in person are important ways to promote meaningful dialogue and enhance cultural awareness.

At the event, the China Cultural Centre in Luxembourg and performing artists from Shanghai, China, presented wonderful performances of traditional Chinese culture, creating a festive and lively atmosphere.
